Here’s a few St. Patrick’s Day Fun Facts:

1) St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated annually on March 17th, the traditional religious feast day of St. Patrick and the day he is believed to have died in 460 A.D.  However, did you know he wasn’t even IRISH?!?Ireland’s beloved patron saint was born in Britain and later captured by Irish raiders at the age of 16.

2)  St. Patrick’s day is not even a legal holiday in the USA, but don’t tell that to the millions of people that celebrate it every year with Irish festivals, parades,  traditional corned beef & cabbage, and don’t forget the extreme drinking.

3) Although St. Patrick’s day tends to be celebrated as a non-religious holiday, according to legend, St. Patrick used the shamrock to illustrate the concept of the Holy Trinity (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) when trying to convert pagans to Christianity.

4) American Irish were very poor and could not afford certain meats and produce.  So, on St. Patrick’s Day,  they would to buy corned beef and cabbage because this was all they could afford, the meal became a staple for the holiday.
